About the Artist

1989 – 1995. Carol completed the Fine Arts course at The City Literary Institute of London before joining the Camberwell College of Art’s Foundation Course. This was followed by the degree course in Fine Arts at The Byam Shaw School of Painting and Drawing where she was granted a Distinction for her final year work.

1996 – 2000. She set up her first studio in London’s Frith Street where she worked for 5 years, exhibiting at The Front Room Gallery Highbury, The Marylebone Gallery and the Gate Gallery, Soho. She curated a permanent display of her work at The Grass Roots Group, Tring. She also acted as Visiting Artist at Surrey Square School in Central London.

2000 – 2002. She travelled to Rajbari, a small village in Bangladesh, where she lived for 2 years  and set up a studio in order to both work and to introduce the local children to a programme of learning English through the medium of art.

2002 – 2010. Continuing her travels, she moved next to Cape Town where she became a member of The Orange Street Studio through which she showed work in several exhibitions. She was invited to become a member of The African Visual Arts Society and was a regular exhibitor at their annual show in Cape Town. She was also elected as a member of, and exhibited regularly with, The South African Society of Artists, winning their award in the 2008 Summer Show for best pastel work. During her time in South Africa she fulfilled a number of commissions for private and corporate clients.

2010 – Present. Carol returned to the UK where she continues to work and exhibit from her studio in Weston super Mare.
